5 Ways You Are Damaging Your Employer Brand

5 Ways You Are Damaging Your Employer Brand The way you recruit can either enhance or damage your employer brand. As its your job to take care of the candidate, its important to make sure their hiring experience is a positive one. So in order to  attract retain talent, you need to make sure your employer brand is an attractive one. We strongly recommend making sure your company doesnt possess any of the following points: Bad Application Process A bad application process can be the number one killer for your employer brand. If you want to attract and encourage people to apply for your positions, avoid having an unnecessarily long job application process, this causes candidates to lose interest. Avoid asking inappropriate or discriminative questions, candidates want to work for equal, diverse workplaces, not discriminative ones! On the other hand, if your application process lacks detail such as job descriptions, company information etc, its likely that candidates will avoid you. In this case, you will be lacking an employer brand. Failure to Engage Candidates want human interaction and engagement and if your company lacks this you could be losing the best talent! You need to provide a hiring and onboarding experience that is personal and interactive. If you leave all of your communicating to AI or automation, it will leave candidates feeling insignificant. Put that extra effort in to make sure that you are providing a personal and welcoming experience. Its also important to  keep candidates updated about the status of their application, leaving them in the dark will make them feel neglected and frustrated False Company Culture You may be amazing at attracting talent to your company but do you have issues retaining talent? This is probably due to false perceptions of your employer brand. What ever it is that you are portraying about your brand, whether its the perks, culture, values etc, it must be a true representation. Once a new employee finds out the truth, its likely they will leave your company. Lying about what type of company you are can get you in a lot of trouble and this will double your workload when it comes to hiring then rehiring. Non-existent Onboarding So, you provide a positive hiring experience and you are particularly pleased that you managed to hire someone so quickly. Its all very well channelling all of your efforts into the recruitment process but what about your employee onboarding? You must make sure that once you secure a hire, you welcome them on to the team well and provide them with any training or assistance that they will need. Failure to provide a positive and inviting onboarding experience will only worsen your reputation, costing you your best employees! High Staff Turnover Nowadays, its so easy for people to write whatever they want online and this can often be the biggest cause of damage to a brand. People want to read genuine reviews from real people and if your own employees arent happy then this is critical. Before you take on any new employees, you need to dedicate some time and effort to make sure that your employees are happy. Obviously, if they arent its time to make some major changes before your employer reputation hits rock bottom!
